Core Functions of MindGadget’s EDI Integration

What does EDI stand for and what are its functions?

An EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) format is used to exchange the documents between two business partners electronically which is useful to do millions of transactions in a second and to avoid manual work such as ordering PO through phone or FAX or email communications.

There are many EDI standards, some of which address the needs of specific industries or regions. In the US, the standard is known as ANSI X12, whereas in Europe it is called EDIFACT. EDI implies a sequence of messages between two parties, either of whom may serve as originator or recipient.

Some of the EDI transactions that are used in the industry for the Order to Cash Process are:

850 Purchase Order
855 Purchase Order Acknowledgement
860 Purchase Order Change
856 Advance Ship Notice
940 Warehouse Shipping Order
945 Warehouse Shipping Notification
810 Invoice
830 Planning Schedule with Release Capability
824 Application Advice
852 Sales Activity Data
214 Transportation Carrier Ship. Status Message
315 Status Details (Ocean)
